Kia ora Kaiko¯ ura I guess all good things must eventually come to an end, and while I said my goodbyes this time last year, you have probably noticed I haven’t been able to keep away entirely, offering readers the odd snippet here and there of late as we work towards handing over the paper. This week marks exactly 10 years since I took on the job as Kaiko¯ ura Star reporter, so it seems an appropriate time to bring it to a close. I’d like to give a big shout out to news director Stu Hunt, who has managed to produce the paper each week from Nelson under very difficult conditions, and who has definitely helped keep me sane as we have struggled through together with no reporter on the ground for some months. Thanks to you, the community, for your patience through all the changes, and best wishes to The Greymouth Star Company who take over the reins from here. I look forward to reading many more stories from my New Zealand home town, and I assure you haven’t seen the last of me! Take care and look after each other, Nga¯ mihi nui, Emma.
