Ewings inquest continues

A coronial investigation into the disappearance of Clarence resident Melissa Ewings continues as the 12-month mark passes. The 31-year-old beekeeper told a neighbour she was going for a walk on the afternoon of September 20, 2020, and was never seen again. She failed to turn up for work the next day. Her house was locked and her car was there, and neighbours said she seemed to be in a good mood. Police and Land Search and Rescue combed the area during the following days, and found Ewings’ cellphone in the pocket of her dressing gown, and her shoes near the mouth of the river. Police cameto the conclusion that Ewings died during a ‘‘misadventure’’. They ended their search on October 14, and referred the case to the coroner. A spokesperson said the case was still with the coroner, whose findings would be released in due course.
