Gorgeous godwits

The cathedral bells rang out on Thursday to herald the return of the beautiful godwits. These amazing little birds had flown thousands of kilometres to return to our lovely New Zealand. They will bring new hope and great joy to our lives. Last year, when at

Pakawau in Golden Bay, I walked along the wash at the sea’s edge with these gorgeous birds. I stood still, and they walked right past me. It was a magical moment. I had done it many times before, and the feeling is still the same. Life stands still for a short time, and one has to wonder at these amazing little birds. Their strength can heal your soul.
