Ruining the country

I watch as a wire ropeway hauls almost valueless pine trees up the hill opposite, scouring the land, allowing the slashings and mud to flow into the streams. Meanwhile, millions of cows fill the Canterbury Plains with their faeces and urine, polluting forever the aquifers. We need not fear the USA or any other power invading us and ruining our country. We are perfectly able and willing to ruin it ourselves.
