SWITCH HITTER How Silver Ferns and Tactix standout Karin Burger found career-best form

they’re already in quarantine in Queensland, having relocated from Terrigal.

‘‘They are all in lockdown, so it’s a really tricky situation,’’ George said.

‘‘They can’t just walk out of quarantine and jump on a plane. Also, we looked at it and there are no flights, they’re all booked.’’

The pause of the travel bubble is the latest in a series of issues the Warriors have had to deal with during the past two years.

For a large part of the 2020 season the players and their families were separated and recently when the Warriors, along with several other clubs were forced to relocate to South East Queensland, there was a delay in getting the families into the state.

Even though they were able to cross the state border last week, they all have to do two weeks in quarantine in a hotel before reuniting with the players.

Meanwhile, Dallin WateneZelezniak’s wife Purdy gave birth to the couple’s third child on Friday night.

Watene-Zelezniak, who has recently joined the club from the Bulldogs, was forced to watch it on FaceTime as he and Purdy made the tough decision that she would have the baby in New South Wales and he’d travel with the team to the Gold Coast.

‘‘It just shows what we’re all living with at the moment, that he couldn’t be there for that,’’ George said. ‘‘He had his phone in a staff member’s hand yesterday, when she was in labour while we were training. The good news is Purdy and their daughter, Lola, are doing fine.’’

‘We’ve just got to suck it up and deal with it. There’s nothing else we can do.’ CAMERON GEORGE, WARRIORS CEO
