Robinson’s gift to charity

Paralympic gold medallist Holly Robinson won the women’s javelin F46 at the Tokyo Paralympics with a dramatic final throw where she catapulted herself from third to first in a clutch moment on the biggest stage of her career. But it’s what she did after her gold medal heroics that earned the Dunedin track and field star a US$50,000 (NZ$70,055) prize to donate to a charity of her choice. Despite the excitement of how she won gold, with the 40.99m throw, Robinson put her celebrations on hold to make a point of thanking all the event’s officials for their hard work and contribution. That touching moment won her the Visa Award – a global fan vote competition – over five other selected moments from the Tokyo Paralympics. Robinson has chosen Ronald McDonald House South Island.
