Amos opts for medicine

Wales outside back Hallam Amos is passing up the chance of another crack at the All Blacks after announcing his plan to retire at 27 to complete his medical studies. Amos wasn’t named in Wales’ squad for the October 31 clash with the All Blacks and November internationals this week and has since announced he is quitting at the end of the season to become a doctor. ‘‘I’ve experienced a lot in rugby and have been fortunate to go to two Rugby World Cups, a Commonwealth Games, several Six Nations, and I’ve had a lot of great times in the regional game. I’m very grateful for the incredible experiences I’ve had, but the time has come to face a new challenge.’’
