Give us a break

Am I the only one who is getting tired of those complaining about not being able to come home, blaming MIQ, the Government, and not blaming themselves.

What makes it more tiresome is the media focusing on these people who feel they are more special than others.

I too cannot get overseas to see family. I am not complaining, it is what it is. Those complaining are just background noise.

So please, media, give us a break from these moaners.

front of the queue for MIQ allocations. National sports teams, from anywhere, it seems, win hands down.

It reports that ‘‘only around half of the available rooms in the MIQ system are actually used by regular New Zealanders booking through the Managed Isolation Allocation System (MIAS)’’.

The Government appears to be taking a ‘‘bread and circuses’’ approach, hoping that it will appease the masses by providing sports events, while thousands of Kiwis are denied the opportunity to get home to connect with their families.

I suggest that the MIQ system devised by Immigration Minister Kris Faafoi and other Government ministers demonstrates that they have no concern whatsoever for the health and wellbeing of New Zealanders and their families.
