Spong revisited
Re Gavan O’Farrell’s reply (Letters, Sept 23) to Bishop Randerson’s defence of the late Bishop Spong, I seem to recall a comment made by another retired bishop, which should lay all argument to rest as to whose views ultimately around God/Jesus are ‘‘correct’’:
‘‘Arguing about God,’’ he said, ‘‘is like trying to pick up mercury with your fingers; it is the fascinating impossibility of it all, that makes it so compelling.’’
The bishop, also retired, is Richard Holloway, Scotland. Richard Roberts, Miramar
