Black Sticks denied at death in 1-1 draw

Victory over Australia’s Hockeyroos again proved elusive for the Black Sticks women as a late penalty corner attempt was deflected away, right on fulltime in Auckland yesterday in a 1-1 draw. NZ’s Deanna Ritchie stormed into the circle and found Alia Jacques who slotted home after 5min. A Mariah Williams shot was deflected by Shanea Tonkin to level the scores.
