Solid win for young Dodgers

A young Dodgers side put in an impressive batting display in the latest round of the club softball competition.

The Dodgers had 17 safe hits during their 19-4 win over Feilding Wa¯hine Toa in the women’s competition at Colquhoun Park last Saturday.

Aria Webster-Pahina and Ashlee Hatzen had home runs for Dodgers.

Linton Storm also had a big win over Matua Ma, 14-0, as they scored 13 safe hits, including home runs from Kimi Grant and Colleen Hollows.

Matua Ma had no answer and the game ended 14-0.

Bramac Aces had a hard-fought 9-8 win over Huia Tigers.

Bramac came out fast, scoring five runs and Huia answered with two.

Bramac scored one run in the third inning and three in the fourth inning, taking their score to 9.

The Tigers replied with two runs in the second inning, three runs in the third and only one in the fourth inning when time ran out, so they finished one run behind.

For Huia, Antonette Newton was their top batter with three hits from three turns at bat.

For Aces Jillian Simmons had two hits from two turns at bat.

Cowgirls defaulted Kingswood Anahera.

In the men’s premier grade under lights on Thursday night, Huia Chiefs won a high-scoring game 19-10 over Linton Sentinels. to

Huia got away to a good start, scoring five runs in the first two innings and Linton had no answer.

Linton piled on five runs in the third inning to level the game 5-all.

But the Chiefs pulled away and at the end of the six inning to lead 10-8 and in the seventh and final inning, they fired, scoring nine runs.

Linton could not match this, even with an in-the-park home run by JJ Aull.

Linton’s top batter was Aull with two hits from three turns at bat, as well as three runs batted in.

AJ Dyason was Huia’s top batter with four hits from five turns at bat.

On Saturday, Blue Sox won a tight game 7-2 over Huia Chiefs.

The score was 2-1 to Huia Chiefs in the fourth inning, but in the fifth and sixth innings, Blue Sox pulled away, scoring six runs to go ahead 7-2. Caleb Gray was Huia’s best batter with two hits from three turns at bat.

Quentin Cunningham was Blue Sox’s top batter with three hits from four turns at bat.
