Chance ahead of hectic period

Striker Jaushua Sotirio remained under an injury cloud heading into the game against the Wanderers after limping off with an ankle injury after scoring the winning goal against Central Coast Mariners.

Right-back Callan Elliot is expected to start despite hurting his shoulder, after receiving a cortisone injection to relieve the pain, while left-back Sam Sutton is fit and available for selection after sitting out the first two rounds. ‘‘Callan is OK, so he’ll be all right to go. It’s a similar injury to what Reno [Piscopo] had towards the back end of last season. I think he will still be sore but he’s put his hand up to play but Jaushy is touch and go. We’ll see how he goes this morning, if he can get through the session. Other than that everyone is OK.’’

The Phoenix will be aiming to extend their club record 13-game unbeaten run against the Wanderers, having not tasted a defeat since round 15 of the previous campaign.

‘‘It’s our 16th home game and 14 have been in Australia, so it’s a bit of pride [the unbeaten run] but I don’t look at those stats. We just go out there and try to play the game and try to get the best result possible.’’
