Top of the south registers 308 new Covid-19 cases

There were also 355 people with Covid-19 in hospital around the country, including 12 in intensive care units.

Nine people were in hospital with the virus in Nelsonmarlborough.

That was up on the seven hospitalisations in the area on Wednesday.

The 308 new Covid-19 cases in the top of the south compared to 356 on Wednesday and 326 on Tuesday.

Yesterday, the ministry also announced a further 16 people had died around the country with

Covid-19, none of whom were from Nelson or Marlborough.

Of the deceased, two each were in their 60s and 70s, eight were in their 80s and four were aged over 90. Nine were women and seven were men.

Nelson Marlborough Health, which has different figures because of different reporting times, recorded 363 new Covid-19 cases on Wednesday.

They included 132 in Nelson, 45 in Richmond, 40 in Motueka/ Moutere, 22 in Golden Bay, 26 in other parts of Tasman, 84 in Blenheim, four in Picton and seven in other areas of Marlborough.
