Two injured cut free

Four people were taken to Nelson Hospital, three in serious condition, after a two-car crash on the Wakefield-Kotahu highway. Two of the injured occupants, one in each vehicle, were trapped after the crash near Wai-iti, south-west of Nelson city, at 7.35am yesterday. Firefighters were able to free the victims. Both lanes of State Highway 6were closed at the intersection of Hoult Valley Rd for several hours. Police said at midday the road had been reopened. St John said four patients had been transported to hospital. Three were in a serious condition, and one was in a moderate condition.
