Duchess faces writ over £19m lost by company

Sarah Ferguson, the Duchess of York, and Michael Grade face being sued by liquidators seeking to recoup up to £19 million (NZ$39 million) lost by their failed media investment company. They were two of six directors of Gate Ventures, a publicly listed company that invested in start-up businesses and theatre shows, including London productions of Sunset Boulevard and 42nd Street. Grade, who is chairman of the UK’s communications regulator Ofcom, became a director in 2015 and served as chairman from 2017 until it was placed into administration.
