Crane truck left dangling from harbour bridge after smashing through railing

MIKE MATHER

THE Tauranga Harbour Bridge was partially blocked yesterday after a truck carrying a crane smashed through a railing on the bridge and was left hanging precariously over the edge.

Police said the incident happened at around 7.20am and warned of ‘‘significant delays’’.

The driver was reportedly uninjured.

The Mount-to-Tauranga lane of the bridge was completely closed to traffic while the truck was pulled away from the edge of the bridge.

It was towed away shortly before 9am, however the bridge remained partly closed during the morning while debris was cleared from the scene.
