Let’s make Untouchable Girls No 1

THE country really is getting in behind the Topp Twins after they posted on social media that they are ‘‘still alive and kicking’’ months after they announced they both had cancer. Comments from far and wide included one message of love from former Prime

Minister Helen Clark, who wrote ‘‘You are both so courageous. All strength to you’’ after the twins announced it had been eight months since Lynda’s grade 3 breast cancer diagnosis and six months since a new tumour was discovered in Jools’ rib cage.

‘‘It has been a pretty hard journey of surgery, chemo and, for Jools, radiation therapy,’’ the post said.

‘‘The love and support we have had from Kiwis and fans around the world has been amazing and we thank each and every one of you who have sent messages and donated to our Givealittle page.’’

And yesterday broadcasting legend Kevin Milne came up with a great way in which we can all help show the twins that we care.

Speaking with Jack Tame on his radio show, Milne came up with the idea of geting their song Untouchable Girls back on top of the charts, saying: ‘‘Wouldn’t it just be magnificent, just to get them through this terrible time of their lives, if their greatest hit just emerged as the top song.’’ Great idea... let’s go!
