I know a place . . . Wellington Cable Car

WELLINGTONNZ

You can’t beat Wellington on a good day, the saying goes. But you can’t beat the capital’s Cable Car on any day. Since 1902, the fireengine red cable cars have trundled up and down the steep Wellington hills, through three tunnels and over three bridges, several times a day. Enjoy the spectacular views across the city and harbour, as well as the artwork (murals at the terminal and light installations along the way). Once you reach Kelburn at the top, there’s the Cable Car Museum, which will give you a new appreciation of this unique mode of transport.
