Teens on coast to coast

Finn McKenzie and Ollie Taylor are just 16, but today they’re setting out on the adventure of a lifetime. The Onslow College students want to become the first people to traverse New Zealand in a perfectly straight line from one coast to the other. They will start from Himatangi Beach on the west coast of the North Island and head to Castlepoint on the east coast. The keen trampers have been planning for six months, and chose the route because there were no towns in their way, and it avoided the hardest parts of the Tararua Range. They expect it to take five nights.
