Kiwi pair surge past England for semis

New Zealand’s Joelle King and Amanda Landers-Murphy beat women’s singles winner Georgina Kennedy and Lucy Termel, of England, 11-8 11-6 in their quarterfinal yesterday. They meet surprise packets from Malaysia, Yiwen Chan and Aainaa Ampandi, who stunned the top-seeded Indian pair. King followed by teaming with men’s singles gold winner Paul Coll in the mixed doubles to beat Scotland’s Georgia Adderley and Rory Stewart 11-7 11-9 to reach the semifinals.
