Most of us think about our eyes only in terms of whether we need glasses, but they may be a way to spot a range of health issues. Recent research has found that a simple non-invasive eye test that checks the pattern of blood vessels in the retina could be used to identify a raised risk of heart attacks. It’s hoped that the research, conducted at the University of Edinburgh, could lead to retina analysis becoming part of routine eye examinations. But it’s not just the retina that may indicate issues. Changes that can be spotted at home, such as in vision or the colour of your eyes, can give an insight into your health. Here’s what to look out for.
