I have no doubt a lot of us would have used or seen the word “kōrero” at least once or twice.

KŌRERO = TALK OR SPEAK

You know how in English there are different ways of saying “talk”, such as “tell” and “say”? Well, te reo Māori is exactly the same.

WHĀKĪ = TELL KĪ = SAY

Then there are different intensities of volume, such as whispering and shouting.

KŌHIMUHIMU = WHISPER HĀPARANGI = SHOUT
