Former PM unrepentant

Former prime minister Scott Morrison has defended his decision to appoint himself to multiple secret ministries, despite the release of a scathing report by a former High Court judge which called his conduct corrosive of trust in government. Morrison appointed himself minister of health, finance, industry, science, energy and resources, treasury and home affairs without the knowledge of most of the designated ministers. He said he welcomed the findings, and indicated that he would not resign from parliament. ‘‘These decisions were taken during an extremely challenging period, where there was a need for considerable urgency.’’
