‘Cowardly’ attack alleged

A 27-year-old man appeared in the Manukau District Court yesterday after a woman was allegedly sexually assaulted at To¯ tara Park near the Botanical Gardens on Tuesday. He faces two charges of unlawful sexual connection and indecent assault, and was remanded without plea to reappear tomorrow. Police allege the ‘‘cowardly’’ attack, on the Puhinui Stream Forest Trail in broad daylight, involved a knife, and the woman was cut on the neck.
