Race Across the World (8.15pm, Wednesday, TVNZ 1)

The third season of this popular UK reality competition sees five teams race 16,000km through Canada. With no smartphones, internet access and credit cards, they’ll have to rely on the kindness of strangers. ‘‘This series is a messy celebration of human foibles, resilience, diversity and generosity. It will break your heart and cheer your soul,’’ wrote The Guardian’s Jack Seale.

Deadloch (Friday, Prime Video)

Wentworth and Rake star Kate Box and Kiwi Madeleine Sami are detectives who have to join forces when planning for the sleepy seaside Tasmanian hamlet of the title’s annual arts, food and culture event is thrown into disarray by the discovery of a body on the beach.

Ten Pound Poms (8.55pm, Saturday, TVNZ 1)

Ordinary Lies writer Danny Brocklehurst’s latest series focuses on the Roberts family, who decide to swap dreary 1950s Britain for a supposedly bright new future Down Under. However, with an unfriendly initial immigration experience followed by poor living conditions and a populace urging the ‘‘whingeing Poms’’ to go home, they begin to wonder if they’ve made a mistake. The cast includes Coronation Street’s Michelle Keegan.
