Two crashes, one person in hospital

One person was taken to hospital, and others another treated at the scene, after two separate crashes in Taranaki on Thursday night. Emergency services were called to Nugent St, Bell Block, around 5.30pm. A police media spokeswoman said two cars collided near the Murray St intersection. The spokesperson said fuel had leaked from one of the vehicles, and one lane was blocked with traffic being diverted for a short period of time. St John Ambulance spokeswoman Dani Tucker said the driver of one of the vehicles was taken to Taranaki Base Hospital in a moderate condition. Tucker said another person was also treated at the scene with minor injuries. Just hours later, emergency services were called to State Highway 3, north of the Mt Messenger tunnel, after a truck rolled. The driver was the sole occupant and Tucker said they were treated at the scene in a minor condition.
