Deceased not seen for days before being found injured

A man, found unconscious with serious injuries by police, who later died, may have been injured for days in his home before being discovered. Police are investigating the man’s death, which is being treated as unexplained. They were called to the Owhiti St property in the Porirua suburb of T¯ıtahi Bay, about 12.20pm on Thursday. Alicia Fitzgibbon who was staying next door had become concerned after not seeing the man since last Saturday morning. The man was taken to hospital but died later in the evening. Police are carrying out forensic work in a tent at the rear of the property. A post-mortem to determine the cause of death is being carried out. Fitzgibbon said she felt the man, who she understood didn’t have any family, may have been lying injured in his home for days.
