Lemons and cucumber and mint. Mum has an abundant lemon tree and it’s always a challenge to use them up before they turn. We have a big furious pot of mint outside the back door that never gets used for anything else. And the cucumber is a way to up my vegetable intake, and I have a vague memory of cucumber in drinks being something fancy people do?

Dr Beak Garden Gin is delicious, it’s small-batch distilled in Martinborough – not to mention the bottles are beautiful. We have a wee spot at the top of the garden currently referred to as the “gin deck”, which looks out to e Whakaraup Lyttelton
