Vodafone to appeal

Vodafone will appeal a ruling that it breached the Fair Trading Act in its broadband marketing. It follows a Commerce Commission decision to go back to court to ask for a stiffer sentence. Auckland District Court fined Vodafone $1.46 million in April after ruling last year that the company had misled customers from 2016 to 2018 when it marketed its cable broadband networks in Wellington and Christchurch. At the same time it fined Vodafone $787,500 for a number of other offences. Vodafone said it would appeal both the 2021 conviction and the overall $2.25m fine.
