Repeat rapist stays in jail

A notorious sex offender will spend at least another two years in jail serving an openended termfor lying inwait near a Hutt Valley teenager’s sleepout. Justin Ames Johnston, now51, was found guilty of attempted sexual violation after lurking outside the 16-year-old’s sleepout in 2010. Johnston denied the sex charge but admitted threatening to do grievous bodily harmto the girl’s father, who chased him off. Johnstonwas sentenced in 2012 to preventive detention. Hewas recently denied parole after a four-year postponement. In its decision out yesterday, the Parole Board said it would look at his case in two years.
