Mile not so golden

Rod Page (letters, Jan 23) is absolutely right in his summary.

To walk the Golden Mile and count the closed shops you have to walk on what we used to call the ‘‘foot’’ path.

This now means playing dodgems with electric scooter jockeys.

They weave around people, not speed limited, [leaving] no place for us oldies.Let’s Get Wellington Moving have moved it alright, I don’t know where to, but it is not the Golden Mile.

Perhaps this is why the oldies keep away.
