Troubled ship detained

Stricken container ship the Shiling has been detained in Wellington and won’t be able to leave until safety assurances can be made. Maritime NZ yesterday said it had issued a detention notice on the vessel. The 66,000-tonne ship first had an engine failure in April that saw it drift perilously close to a shallow Wellington Harbour shoal. It was then cleared to leave, but had a power and steering failure off Farewell Spit.
