Karma indeed

In recent elections the National Party has instructed its supporters in an Auckland electorate to give their electorate vote to David Seymour, the ACT leader.

The intention being that, if he were elected, an ACT party vote below the 5% threshold might still bring additional ACT members into Parliament, thereby swelling numbers on the right.

In this sense Seymour is a creation of the National Party by a process that could be described as a gaming of our electoral system. Now, ACT is cannibalising the National Party vote. Karma indeed.
