Healthcare before signs

At Christmas time I had the unfortunate news that I have blood cancer for which there is no cure, but was advised that, with a treatment programme, there was a very good chance of extending my life for a number of years.

After completing 16 weeks of chemotherapy, I have been advised that the treatment cannot continue due to lack of funding (ie, not enough nurses or beds from cutbacks).

I now have to sit on a waiting list, while continuing to have chemotherapy, which has many long term/ permanent side effects, and wait.

I believe my life and that of many others in my position is worth more than spending millions of dollars on street signs that three-quarters of the country can’t read. This Government should be investing the money back into health to save people’s lives.
