FRED has worked at Kiwi Lumber in Dannevirke for 25 years, where today he is the head grader. He mentors less experienced staff and has valuable skills in training and models the best behaviour in the drymill area.

With a genuine passion for his area of the plant, Fred often comes to work on weekends to help with extra cleaning.

Fred has been called the ‘‘best grader in

New Zealand’’, travelling to other sites to help with his experience and input. He is well-known and respected in the sawmill sector.

He has been called ‘‘the guru of graders’’ and Kiwi Lumber is lucky to have such dedicated staff keep its sawmills running and producing the lumber we need for house-building and construction.
