Shocked by treatment of Wizard
Last week a small article in our national newspaper, De Telegraaf, caught my eye. It was about the Christchurch Wizard, who will no longer be paid by the Christchurch City Council from the end of the year.
I was shocked by that sad news. What a misguided decision by the council to silence this colorful figure. He is such a valuable attraction whose performance brings light to the sometimes sad events of everyday life. Especially in these gloomy ‘corona times’. To have someone like that in your city should be cherished. My husband and I saw him at work when we visited Christchurch some time ago and we thought he was quite funny. And we certainly were not the only ones!
Perhaps the Wizard can beam some wisdom into the council, so that his retirement will be lifted for the time being and people can enjoy his performance again!
