Vaccination rates jump
Fiji’s Health Ministry says almost all of the country’s target population is partially vaccinated against Covid-19, as new daily confirmed case numbers continue to drop. It says 96.2 per cent of the target population – or
594,731 people – have received a first dose of a vaccine, and 86.3 per cent – a total of 533,663 adults – have received their second dose and are now fully vaccinated. Meanwhile, Tonga’s Ministry of Health is urging parents to get their teenagers vaccinated as soon as possible, before the Pfizer vaccine doses it has in stock expire in 28 days. The ministry says that so far,
35 per cent of Tonga’s population – more than
37,000 people – are fully vaccinated, and 51 per cent have had the first of two doses..
