Date set for pre-coroner mosque hearing
A hearing on the scope of a coronial inquiry into the March 15 Christchurch mosque attacks will now take place over February 22 to 24. The hearing had originally been scheduled to take place on December 14, but it was postponed to allow families more time to prepare submissions. The Ministry of Justice confirmed the February 2022 date yesterday. The hearing is set to take place at the Justice and Emergency Services Precinct in Christchurch. The planned hearing is not a coroner’s inquest, but merely an opportunity for interested parties to make submissions themselves or through their lawyer on the scope of the coronial inquiry into the attacks. Those who have made written submissions will also have the opportunity to make oral submissions at the hearing.
