12 of 13 sex charges against rapper withdrawn

A Christchurch rapper who faced allegations including rape, abduction for sex, unlawful sexual connection and supplying ecstasy has had all but one of the charges against him dropped. Martin Frost, who also goes by the name Young Shuck, was arrested last month after police alleged he committed numerous serious crimes against a woman. He applied for bail but this was declined. When Frost appeared in the Christchurch District Court via video link yesterday, police withdrew 12 of the 13 charges he faced. A charge of indecent assault remains, to which Frost has pleaded not guilty. A reason for the withdrawal of the charges was not given in open court. Given the new circumstances, Judge Quentin Hix granted Frost bail with a number of conditions, including that he does not have contact with the complainant. Frost will be back in court on February 17 for a case review hearing.
