Infamous?
You describe former Governor-General Sir Arthur Porritt’s remark on ‘‘Ma¯ oriPa¯ keha¯ relationships ... dealt with ... through intermarriage’’ (5 min quiz, Jan 13) as ‘‘infamous’’.
As the result of such miscegenation processes since C1838, I consider it quite a neutral, factual statement, as it is difficult to be racist when many of my in-laws and relations are of mixed race.
I consider your wording to be, er, infamous.
