Unmasking fears

In his reply (Letters, Jan 13) to my letter, Jeremy Alsop cites statistical analysis based on ‘‘real world evidence’’ that shows a decrease in the likelihood of transmission when more people are vaccinated.

I am sorry Mr Alsop did not cite his source.

Readers who are interested in this topic might like to check out the article on the ‘‘epidemiological relevance of vaccination’’ in The Lancet.

Everyone carries a viral load. The simplest approach is two-pronged: 1. Look after others’ health by staying home if you are sick, and 2. Look after your own health by eating nutritiously, exercising, getting enough sleep and managing your stressors.

Fear is as contagious as the virus. If we unmask our fears, we might be less inclined to punish the ‘‘unvaccinated other’’.
