Two independent investigations must be carried out

Two independent investigations are needed, not one, into the Uffindell affair.

The more important is not what Uffindell did or did not do, it is what Rotorua MP Todd McLay actually said to the staffer when advising red flags had been raised about this man.

Also, what did McLay expect to happen when the flags were raised with Luxon’s office; and what do National’s new selection protocols actually say on the matter?

The reason we need answers is that on January 1, Luxon told us he was really excited about what Uffindell was bringing to the party and described his attributes in some detail.

He and his staffers were all over Uffindell’s selection. In these circumstances it is unbelievable that a staff member would have failed to think, hell I better tell Luxon about the red flags.

Daily fix

After Donald Trump left office in the USA, and I was no longer able to have my daily fix of comedy from the many statements and claims he made, I wondered where I was going to get it.

Now I have found it in the train wreck of the new daily press releases of the National Party MP Sam Uffindell’s fiasco.

I am not laughing at the seriousness of the assault or the victim of it but the train wreck in how everything was and is being handled.

It looks like Christopher Luxon will be pulling out of the garage the bus that Judith Collins once stated John Key used to run her over re the 2014 Oravida scandal.

Then he can use it to do the same with his own staff, who he has confirmed as being the people who never told him about the assault allegations and then the socalled experienced National Party members on the selection panel for also not giving him a ‘‘heads-up no surprises warning’’.

This is one of the first rules in any organisation and especially in politics, as these people would have known that the assault matters would have come to light.

Meanwhile Trump is now supplying more comedy regarding the raids at his home in Mara-Lago.
