Dalziel farewelled with standing ovation
Outgoing Christchurch mayor Lianne Dalziel shed a tear at her last council-meeting yesterday and received a standing ovation. In the role since 2013, Dalziel, in her valedictory speech, described steering the city through the earthquake recovery, mosque attacks, fires, floods and the pandemic. She was most proud of the city’s response to the 2019 terror attack. She said it had been a privilege to serve the city shewas born and raised in and she had the same optimism for the city’s future as when she started.
