TOUR LEADER JERSEY

Each stage has a winner, but the yellow jersey is worn by the overall leader. The first rider across the line in the fastest team in the prologue on Sunday is awarded Yellow Jersey. Every cyclist’s stage times are aggregated and the rider with the lowest time after each stage wears the Yellow until another competitor records a lower aggregate time. The overall general classification winner is the rider with the fastest time when all the stage results – including any time bonuses (awarded to the first three riders home in each stage plus sprints and hill climbs). Winning time bonuses means that it is possible to win the general classification without winning a stage! Riders who finish in a bunch are awarded the same time.
