As a two time Olympian riding his fifth Tour of Southland, Regan Gough brings a lot of experience to the Base Solutions Racing team. He has a World Championship to his name, in the team pursuit in 2015, as well as silver in 2017 and 2020, but his sights are firmly on the hills this year. Hugo Jones also has a strong track background, and with loads of natural speed he will be a great asset to the team, especially when the going gets tough, as it often does in Southland. Carne Groube is another track rider who has made the transition to road, and will be riding in his fifth tour this year. Keegan Hornblow grew up racing bikes in Nelson, and first represented NZ in 2019 at the Junior Track Cycling World Championships. After a successful 2021 including finishing second at the U23 road nationals, he is looking forward to another lap of the South, on board Base Solutions after last year’s Prologue win with Business South. Caleb Bottcher is an accomplished cross country mountain biker, having raced at the World Championships as a junior the previous two years, and will be back for his second lap of the South this year. Cameron Jones is the U23 mountain bike national champion, and has just returned from three months of mountain bike racing in Europe, especially for the SBS Bank Tour of Southland. This is his first ever serious road race, but he has the engine to spring a surprise or two.
