Dairy effluent discharge into creek

Environment Southland is aware of a dairy effluent discharge into a creek in the Drummond-Oreti Rd area, and advises finding another water source until tomorrow. A council spokeswoman said the incident was being investigated. The compliance team had been made aware of the discharge, it had been stopped, but there would likely be contamination, she said. People should avoid contact with the water and access another source if you used water in the area for stock drinking, until tomorrow, she said.
