Auckland metro DHBs hit 90 per cent double dose

Ninety per cent of Aucklanders over the age of 12, are now fully vaccinated against Covid-19. The Auckland metro District Health Boards (DHBs) crossed the threshold yesterday, Director of Public Health Dr Caroline McElnay announced. It comes as Waitematā DHB also reached the 90 per cent double-dose target, making it the third in the country to do so, after Auckland and Capital and Coast. Waitematā DHB serves the largest population in the country, with an eligible population of 526,087 – nearly twice that of Capital and Coast. Ministry of Health data shows there are 337 further second doses to be given in Waitematā DHB to officially reach 90 per cent. Counties Manukau DHB is just 12,212 second doses shy of also reaching the 90 per cent fully vaccinated target. It is sitting at 87 per cent.
