Gadhafi’s son allowed to run

A Libyan court has overturned a decision by the country’s top electoral body that disqualified the son of the late dictator Moammar Gadhafi from running in upcoming presidential elections. A court in the southern province of Sabha ruled in favour of Seif alIslam Gadhafi., who had appealed the decision barring him because of convictions for using violence against protesters. The first round of voting is meant to start on December 24. Libya has been racked by chaos since a Nato-backed uprising toppled Moammar Gadhafi in 2011. Seif al-Islam was sentenced to death by a Tripoli court in 2015 for using violence against protesters during the uprising against his father. He is also wanted by the International Criminal Court on charges of crimes against humanity.
