Restrictions for Southland

Warm weather has forced the Southland District Council to activate water restrictions throughout the region. In Riverton, urgent water conservation is needed and a complete sprinkler ban is now in place. Council manager operations and programming water and waste services Joe Findley said the restrictions were vital and in response to continued pressure on our water networks. The restrictions are likely to be in place until Friday and will apply to all consumers, including commercial operations. The Gore District Council is asking Gore and Mataura residents to be mindful of their water usage as water flow in the Mataura River and the Pleura Dam continues to drop.
