More patrols to reduce anti-social behaviour

Police say they are working to improve safety around Dunedin’s bus hub, which has been a hot spot for youth-related offending in recent years. The bus hub on Great King St – the same street as the Dunedin Central Police Station – has made headlines for all the wrong reasons since opening in March 2019. The incidents, some of which were caught on video supplied to Stuff, included a girl kicking a disabled man in the head, and teenage boys fighting. Constable Nick Turner acknowledged the spate of incidents, and said police were working to improve safety in the area. Dunedin City Council’s city safety officers would increase patrols at the bus hub, which was also monitored by security cameras.
